Cosmetic Bonding

Sports accidents, slips, trips and falls can all lead to chipped and broken teeth.  If you or a loved one chip a tooth, don’t panic.  Contact Michael Fizer, DDS in Beckley, WV at (304) 252-7311 to schedule an appointment for cosmetic bonding.  Cosmetic bonding is used for cracked, chipped, discolored and decayed teeth.

The bonding process involves the use of composite resin to the front of teeth for repairs.  This straightforward cosmetic dental procedure is performed in one appointment.  Though bonding can also be used to close large gaps between teeth or even alter teeth, it is most commonly used for repairing teeth that have been chipped.  In some instances, bonding is strategically added to make teeth look longer than they actually are.

Dental bonding starts with a cleaning of the tooth, setting the stage for bonding to occur at the surface.  Resin is added and the bonding material is shaped.  A UV light is used to dry the bonding material.  It is at this point that the dentist performs the shaping of the bonding material.  The bonding is polished for aesthetic purposes.  The final step is a flossing of the tooth to guarantee the restoration looks perfect.  In total, it takes about half an hour to finish the bonding procedure.
