Veneers are firmly bonded to the teeth so they remain attached for years or even decades to come.  If necessary, the dentist will reshape the teeth prior to the application of veneers.  The process requires an initial cleaning followed by reshaping and prep.  The end result of the veneer application is a visually pleasing hue visible when the lips part that presents a uniform smile from top to bottom.  Veneers look similar to real teeth partially because the dentist uses a highly specialized light to ensure they dry and harden to perfection.  The dentist even goes to the extent of subtly polishing and smoothening the veneers after they harden.
